The COVID-19 vaccine is another measure to protect yourself and prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection. The vaccine helps your body make antibodies to the virus allowing your immune system to fight the virus if you are exposed. Having gone through rigorous scientific and clinical testing before being released, the COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. Currently, three COVID-19 vaccines are available: Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson. All South Carolinians ages 16 years and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. To make an appointment for the vaccine, go to scdhec.gov/vaxlocator or call 1-866-365-8110.
